We had a busy fourth week of the year on campus this week. Thank you to the families who attended Open House. We hope you enjoyed meeting our teachers and spending a day in the life of your PBL student. On Thursday during lunch, we held our annual Club Fair which gave all students the opportunity to find their niche on campus. From Crochet Club to FIRST and VEX Robotics, we have it all, so make sure to encourage your student to get involved in the Energy community by joining a club.
Many have asked how Energy is navigating the changes within HISD this year. We feel encouraged as visitors to our campus see PBL at work and learn how this instructional delivery practice emphasizes robust academic comprehension and application while preparing students for the world of work, two key initiatives of the new administration. Additionally, we are extremely thankful the district has honored their “hold harmless” stance on campus enrollment projections. This means we will be able to continue our programs with full funding for our campus. Covid did hinder student recruitment; however, our underclassmen enrollment is strong, and we look forward to another great year of magnet recruiting this year.
Finally, I want to recognize the PTO for their constant support of our programs, students, and staff. Thank you for loving our campus and for investing so much of your energy. I cannot put into words how much my staff and I value having you in our corner.
